Tso moriri Lake also called Mountain Lake is a stunning site amidst mountain ranges in Leh. Lake Moriri or Tso moriri is a High Altitude Lake which is officially named as Tso-moriri Wetland Conservation Reserve, situated in the Changthang whose literal meaning is northern plains, area with an elevation of 4,595 m (15,075 ft). The Tso moriri Lake measures approximately 28 km in length from north to south, around 4 to 6 km in breadth and approx 100 feet average in-depth. Maximum depth of Tso moriri Lake is 248 feet. Tso moriri Lake is bounded by barren hills, with the backdrop of attractive snow covered mountains.
Tso moriri is mind-numbingly Calm, attractive and sacred lake for Ladakhis. Tso moriri is slightly higher than Pangong Tso, the water is far less salty supporting more birdlife. The water is crystal clear and of a deep blue color. However, since the Tso moriri Lake has no opening, its waters are consequently brackish, even though not very obvious to the taste. In fact, the Tso-moriri lake was once a famous source of salt.

Korzok or Karzok is a village in the Leh district of Jammu & Kashmir, India. It is situated in the in Rupshu region, Leh tehsil, on the shore of Tso Moriri lake. It is amongst the uppermost towns in the world. Different sources give slightly different measurements of the elevation from 4,595 metres (15,075 ft.) to 4,570 m (14,995 feet) above sea level.
Best time to visit Tso Moriri
From the month of January to March, Tso Moriri remains mostly ice-covered, very cold conditions with no option to stay around the lake. During April, it starts to melt, starts transforming into the attractive multi shades of blue colors off the shores. May to August is the peak tourists season but as compared toe Pangong Tsoe, there are less tourists that visit.

How to reach Tso Moriri
By Air : The nearest airport is Leh 150 km from the lake and from there road transport is available.
By Train : Kalka is the closest railway station to Leh. Taxis or Byses can be hired to reach Manali via Shimla. There are regular bus and taxis services from Manali to Leh.
By Bus : It is a brilliant drive from Leh. It is a must to take an experienced tour operator from Leh.
